High pressure application of GatorHydeCG

2001 Nissan with GatoryHyde

CASE HISTORY:

  • Customer wanted a polyurea sprayed-on bed liner instead of a urethane applied system.
  • Vehicle was a 2001 Nissan lightweight pick-up truck.
  • Application was winter time with temperature range in 50 degree F.
  • Owner needed the vehicle the same day and wanted to haul heavy concrete pavers.

BACKGROUND:

  • Owner previously had another vehicle with a sprayed-in urethane bed liner and was dissatisfied with both the cosmetics and durability.
  • Owner compared GatorHyde appearance and texture to several other manufacturers in the area. He liked GatorHyde the best.
  • Owner wanted a liner that could be installed in a few hours and be ready for use the same day.
  • Owner also had a delivery deadline on the same day and the truck was badly needed.

INSTALLATION:

  • This 2001 Nissan was first cleaned out, then the truck bed was lightly roughed up using a nylon cup brush and low speed electric buffer.
  • Truck bed was then thoroughly wiped out using acetone solvent and completely masked off using a special wire trim tape paper.
  • After the preparation and masking process was complete the rails and tail gate sections were primed with a fast curing primer.
  • Once the truck was ready for coating, GatorHyde CG was installed using a Graco E-10 Reactor, high pressure plural component pump system.
  • The entire application took less than 20 minutes to complete.
  • GatorHyde CG black was applied at approximately 60 miles.

MATERIAL:

  • GatorHyde CG-Aromatic polyurea coating.
  • Shore D hardness 35
  • 1:1 ratio, heated and sprayed at 2000 psi
  • Material gel time 3 seconds (adjustable)
  • Tack free time 6 seconds
  • Application thickness 60 mils
