Superior Performance for your Truck Bedliner

Compare GatorHyde to Other Spray-On Coatings And See the Results

IMPACT RESISTANCE!

In Fig. 1 we have taken an aluminum plate that has been coated with GatorHyde CG and using a ball peen hammer we strike the plate. Note in Fig. 2 how the impact from the hammer is so violent that the imprint can be seen on the other side of the plate without damage to the GatorHyde membrane. If this was paint, epoxy, urethane or even many other spray in bed liners you would definitely see some serious damage.

ELONGATION & TEAR STRENGTH!

This standard concrete paver has been primed with a special water based epoxy primer, then coated with 80 mils of GatorHyde ARC. The main focus for this test is to determine how well the GatoHyde bonds to the paver then to see if the material will hold the concrete together after a major impact from a foreign object. In Fig. 1 we use a sledge hammer for the destruction process. The impact shatters the concrete paver (Fig. 2), yet the high tear strength of GatorHyde ARC, when properly bonded to the concrete, still adheres to the broken pieces with no damage to the sprayed-on surface as shown in Fig. 3.

ADHESION & BOND STRENGTH!

The screwdriver test method is a simple but effective way to determine the actual adhesion of an elastomer coating system when applied to a metal surface. Once properly prepared, and the right primer used, the adhesion strength should be greater than 1000 psi. A good way to determine if your coating has excellent bond strength is by using the screwdriver test. In order to properly conduct this procedure you will need a good flat head screw driver and a hammer. At the edge of the coating, place the tip of the screwdriver then using the hammer drive the head under the coating as shown in Fig. 1. When you are doing this you should see the coating break or tear directly under the tip of the screw driver as in Fig. 2. You do not want to see the coating begin to peel up all around the tip. The adhesion strength should be greater than the coating as seen in Fig. 3.
