Started in 1979 as a custom cast urethane parts manufacturer, Elastomer
Specialties, Inc. was divided in early 2004 into two separate corporations.
Owned and operated by its current founder, Mr. Orlin Emmons, the original
corporation under went a name change to that of TurnKey Manufacturing, Inc. The
newer polymer division maintained the original name of Elastomer Specialties,
Inc. Due to rapid expansion of the polymers company, Mr. Emmons separated both
manufacturing concerns and moved Elastomer Specialties (polymer division) to the
town of Wagoner, Oklahoma, some 22 miles from TurnKey Manufacturing. It was
during this time period that ESI developed a new Spray-On Bed liner coating
under the name of GatorHyde. As time progressed a whole family of GatorHyde
products was engineered. These new “HIGH PERFORMANCE” materials began to be used
in the OEM, Marine, Heavy Industrial, Contracting and related industries. Due to
ever increasing market awareness of the GatorHyde name, the owner felt it
necessary to merge the name GatorHyde with that of Elastomer Specialties. By
doing so, this would maintain name recognition and continuity in the industry.
Today, ESI/GatorHyde manufacturers its entire line of GatorHyde “Rapid Curing”
polyurea coatings and systems from its 35,000 square foot blending facility in
Wagoner, Oklahoma. It’s from this plant that all products are formulated,
blended, packaged and shipped to both National and International customers and
its Nation-wide network of GatorHyde Spray-on Bed liner dealers.
OEM driven, ESI/GatorHyde’s main target market is the manufacturing segment of
the industry. The specialty automotive, transportation and shipping industries
are rapidly becoming ESI/GatorHyde’s No. 1 target market. The company continues
to engineer the latest in advanced aromatic, aliphatic and aliphatic
polyaspartic systems for use on steel, metal, aluminum and galvanized for
protection against corrosion, UV attack, weathering and extreme abrasion. Today
ESI/GatorHyde has crossed the threshold of advanced polymer technology with the
announcement of its “NEW” GatorHyde “Green”, a Soy-Based, Eco-Friendly polyurea
system and the new “Agion” anti-microbial coatings for protection against the
growth of bacteria, mold, mildew, yeast and fungi. Finally ESI/GatorHyde is
introducing its latest product, GatorHyde DLX NSF 61 potable water approved
coating.
However, not limited to metal, ESI has engineered systems for use on wood,
fiberglass and various forms of plastic that is designed for long term impact,
chemical and abrasion resistance.
An extremely wide range of elastomeric systems have been formulated by ESI/GatorHyde
that offer a complete spectrum of gel times and shore hardness’s. Since no one
product or system can do it all, Elastomer Specialties/GatorHyde produces
polyurea systems with gel times that range from 5 seconds up to 9 minutes. The
company also has formulations which provide a Shore A hardness of 35 up to a
Shore D of 75. When it comes to sheer toughness, long term durability and
extreme versatility, nothing can compare to the company’s polyurea elastomers
which exhibit tensile strengths from 3,000 up to and beyond 7,000 psi.
“Constantly on the leading edge of polymer technology, ESI/GatorHyde
strives to produce the latest in “Rapid Curing” coating systems, in order to
better serve today’s industrial needs”.
